Chuck LawrenceShoppers in the chilly early morning hours
Photos by Jonathan Thomas

Above right, Chuck Lawrence places a ham in the basket of Chris Nelson of Sedgwick, who arrived early with his daughter Jenny Nelson, visiting from Portland. Customers lined up outside the store for the 6 a.m. opening on the 10th anniversary of TradeWinds Market Place in Blue Hill; the first 500 received a free ham in celebration of the store’s opening in 1999. The first in line was Carol Murphy of East Blue Hill, who said she had arrived at 5:15 a.m. Bonnie Marckoon, assistant vice president of The First Bancorp and branch manager of the Blue Hill office and Lawrence alternated is “tossing” hams into the carts of early customers. Below right, some of those shoppers in the chilly early morning hours.
