Sedgwick
Walker Pond case going to Maine Supreme Court

By JONATHAN THOMAS
It’s not over yet. Lee Patten, trustee of The Maine Trust, has decided to appeal the recent Superior Court denial of permits for work near the shore of Walker Pond to the Maine Supreme Court. Attorney Clifford Goodall told The Packet on February 22 that he would be filing the notice of appeal on February 24. Goodall said that the court will issue a scheduling order about three weeks later with dates for filing briefs and presenting oral arguments.

The original permit applications to the Sedgwick Planning Board and Code Enforcement Officer were filed in October 2007.

On February 4, 2010, Superior Court Justice Kevin Cuddy issued a decision upholding the Sedgwick Board of Appeal’s denial of permits for renovation and expansion of three structures, and converting them to residences. They had formerly been part of a girls’ camp on Walker Pond. (See February 11 issue.)
